With housing prices in the clouds and above, and the Real Estate market reaching slowly a point of collapse, the necessity to build houses more cost efficiently was patent. Also the fact that we live in a polluted environment which can’t take much more, recycling is one of the major issues to be resolved. These two main global issues found a solution by the hand of some of the world’s most radical and creative architecture & design studios. Many times when a fright company ships something far away must undertake a high cost to get the container back, actually its much cheaper to just replace it. Many containers were therefore abandoned at destiny point by such companies, but not anymore. Containers as raw are cold-obscure boxes but also with some modifications they can make to really cool prefab houses. The cost is much less than a regular prefab and by combining as many containers as you want you can either have a small studio or a huge LOFT-like house. In some countries, like Japan, they are considering to provide public housing based on container projects.
